Whether you say “puffer” or “down,” any kids’ jacket filled with insulation is an easy place to start.
Some look puffier than others, and some are warmer too. But what’s important to remember about our kids’ puffer jackets is that we’ve got options to suit them in all kids of cold.
Colours
It’s easy to find a puffer jacket that keeps them warm, but finding a colour that they’ll like can make a world of difference.
Whether you need a bright red or yellow jacket so you can see them in the wild, an easy black that goes with anything, or a colourful two-tone style — our kids’ colours are handpicked to reflect the season of adventure.
Styles
Our kids’ puffer jackets come in a complete range of styles.
You can find classic down options, mini me shapes based on adult styles, and easy-wearing vests for versatility throughout winter.
Fill
Puffer jackets are filled with synthetic or down insulation. Depending on the end use of a jacket they can be combined, but the key differences between both options are compressibility and water resistance.
Generally speaking, duck and goose down is nature’s most effective insulator. It’s highly compressible, but the tradeoff is that it clumps when wet. Synthetic insulation is able to retain warmth when wet, but it mightn’t be as compressible as a result.

All Macpac duck and goose down is also responsibly sourced. Two of the most important aspects are no live-plucking, and complete traceability through Allied Feather + Down. You can find more information on our down here.
Waterproof vs Water Resistant
Waterproof means waterproof. Sealed seams and bonded baffles ensure nothing gets between them and what’s keeping them warm. Water resistant, however, is a slightly different story.
The treatments we apply to water resistant fabrics are designed to encourage water to bead and roll off. They’re ideal for quick showers as you move from one place to another, but not sustained exposure.
Washing Your Puffer Jacket
Taking care of your jacket isn’t as simple as throwing it in the wash. You don’t need to wash it every time you wear it, either. Here’s a how-to we’ve put together to make it easy.
